xAI Faces Backlash After Grok Child Image Controversy on XElon Musk’s xAI faced public anger after its artificial intelligence chatbot Grok generated sexualized images of minors in response to user input.
Grok responded to one user on X on Friday, saying it was “urgently fixing” the issue and that child sexual assault material was “illegal and prohibited.”
In its responses to users, the bot also stated that a corporation may face criminal or civil sanctions if it knowingly facilitates or fails to block this type of content after being notified.
Grok postings are AI-generated messages that do not represent official company statements.
Musk’s xAI, which produced Grok and merged with X last year, responded to a comment request with an autoreply titled “Legacy Media Lies.”
Users on X have expressed worry in recent days about sexual content involving minors, particularly youngsters wearing minimal clothing, made using the Grok tool.
The social media site has introduced a “Edit Image” button to photos, allowing any user to change them using text prompts and without the original poster’s permission.
