LAHORE, Pakistan, Feb 1 – Pakistan crushed Australia by 111 runs in the last Twenty20 International on Sunday, completing a 3-0 series whitewash and underlining their readiness for the 2019 Twenty20 World Cup.

    Opener Saim Ayub hit 56 off 37 balls, while Babar Azam contributed an unbeaten 50 to help Pakistan to a 207-6 victory at the Gaddafi Stadium.

    Australia, who rested several members of their World Cup squad for the tour, collapsed for 96 in 16.5 overs to suffer their worst defeat in T20 Internationals.

    Australia bowler Adam Zampa, who had a groin injury, did not bat.

    Faced with a tough chase, Australia faltered early on.

    Pakistan pace Shaheen Afridi bowled rival captain Mitchell Marsh in the first over and Matt Renshaw in the third, leaving Australia reeling at 16-3 after three overs.

    Marcus Stoinis (23) and Cameron Green (22) attempted to get Australia’s chase back on track until left-arm spinner Mohammad Nawaz (5-18) stepped in.

    Nawaz removed both set batters and went through Australia’s middle and lower order, laying the groundwork for Pakistan’s big triumph.
