Josh Groban Brings Romantic Live Concert to CinemasJosh Groban will perform a live concert on the big screen on Valentine’s Day weekend. This performance, recorded at London’s Union Chapel, delivers the intimacy and emotion of a sold-out show. The limited run enables music fans to share their concert experience on the big screen.
According to Josh Groban’s management, the concert film Josh Groban: An Intimate Evening at The Union Chapel will be released on around 100 screens in 45 US areas from February 13-15, providing fans with a limited-run cinematic experience tailored for shared watching. Additional theatrical dates will be announced in select foreign cities.
Produced by VEEPS Studios in collaboration with TourDForce and Cinefromage, the film was shot at Groban’s sold-out concert at London’s Union Chapel, one of the world’s most intimate and acoustically famous locations. The natural acoustics and illuminated atmosphere of the historic hall make it an ideal environment for Groban’s emotionally charged performance. The location creates a rare sense of intimacy between artist and audience, which has now been translated to the immersive scale of the cinema, making it an ideal choice for Valentine’s weekend.
The theatrical concert film, directed by famed UK director Dick Carruthers, immerses viewers in an evening marked by emotional connection, musical storytelling, and stripped-down performances. Carruthers is recognized for filming intimate live performances with acts like Oasis, adding a cinematic style to concert filmmaking. The film, which was shot entirely at Union Chapel, provides a front-row perspective on Groban’s live performance, emphasizing its warmth, immediacy, and power.
“Union Chapel is such an incredible venue,” Groban explained. “We wanted to create a show that felt extremely personal and immersive, and the location was ideal for that. Bringing that experience into theaters—especially around Valentine’s Day weekend—makes it something truly spectacular.”
The theatrical event comes just as Groban announces his upcoming world tour, providing fans with their last chance to see the small concert on the big screen before the larger live tour production, which will feature a full band and orchestra, begins its global run. The film, presented in immersive surround sound and vision, encourages viewers to join a cinematic moment by experiencing the music together.
“A performance built for close listening and emotional impact, Groban’s Union Chapel set captures the kind of musical detail and intimacy that translates powerfully to the big screen,” says Kyle Heller, Co-Founder & Chief Content Officer at Veeps.
The release marks the continuation of event cinema, in which live music and theatrical exhibition combine to produce limited-time cultural moments intended for communal watching.
