Amazon Ring Doorbells Get Fire Alerts, App Store, New SensorsAmazon is updating its Ring smart doorbells with new features like as fire alarms, an app store, and a new set of Ring Sensors.
The business announced the new Ring Sensors at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, claiming that they can detect motion, openings, glass breakage, and smoke, as well as monitor carbon monoxide levels, leaks, temperature fluctuations, and air quality. They also allow you to control lights and appliances connected to your smart home network.
Amazon is also introducing a new app store for the Ring app, allowing users to use their cameras with third-party apps. The shop is now only available in the United States, but users will be able to browse a selection of apps in future weeks. While the company did not define what types of apps would be available in the store, it did state that they would focus on small business operations and ordinary household needs.
And, as fires become more widespread in drought-affected areas, the business has partnered with the fire monitoring app Watch Duty to provide real-time updates and early warnings in the Ring app’s Neighbors section. Users can also add live updates to this section by utilizing their Ring cameras.
Notably, the newly released gadgets support Amazon’s Sidewalk shared network feature, which forms a mesh network between the company’s Echo and Ring devices by sharing a little bit of your bandwidth, allowing devices to function even when they are not inside the range of your Wi-Fi router.
Amazon is also adding a new AI-powered function to Ring cameras that learns a property’s daily behaviors and notifies users if anything strange happens. The company dubbed the function “AI Unusual Event Alerts,” which allows the Ring camera to surface particular alerts when it detects a human based on location, actions, and apparel.
These warnings may automatically initiate intervention for Amazon’s Virtual Security Guard subscribers. In the last month, the company has introduced technologies that employ video recognition to trigger Alexa responses and deliver personalized notifications based on a database of 50 faces.
The company has also introduced a new Ring Car Alarm with built-in GPS for vehicle monitoring.
