Amit Jain's CarDekho Group invests $10 million in CollegeDekhoCarDekho Group has invested $10 million in Gurugram-based edtech platform CollegeDekho, marking a repeat investment and doubling down on its previous bet on the company.
Founded in 2015 by Ruchir Arora, Saurabh Jain, and Rohit Saha, CollegeDekho is an online platform that assists students in discovering colleges and courses, preparing for entrance exams, and navigating admissions in India and abroad. The portal collaborates with over 2,000 universities and colleges. It also provides CollegeDekho Assured, a program that allows students to take industry-aligned degree courses at partner universities throughout India.
The new funding will be utilized to increase CollegeDekho’s presence in tier II and tier III cities, deepen its interaction with educational institutions, and widen its offers. The company said that it has become profitable. Last year, CollegeDekho claimed to have logged roughly 170 million sessions and aided over 4 million students through the admissions process.
“As we progress, after attaining profitability, this will accelerate our efforts to expand quality education and skilling pathways, leverage technology to improve student outcomes, and work closely with institutions to bridge the gap between education and employability,” said Ruchir Arora, CEO and founder of CollegeDekho.
CarDekho Group owns approximately 40% of CollegeDekho. “Our continued investment in CollegeDekho reflects our conviction in its ability to democratise access to quality education, guidance, and skilling for students across the country,” said Amit Jain, co-founder and CEO of CarDekho Group.
CarDekho Group, founded in 2008 by Amit and Anurag Jain, provides websites such as CarDekho, BikeDekho, ZigWheels, InsuranceDekho, and Revv, which offer auto ads and financial services. Peak XV Partners, Hillhouse Capital, CapitalG, Advent Group, LeapFrog, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, and Axis Bank are among the company’s investors. It reports around 50 million monthly active users. CarDekho became a unicorn in 2021, following a $250 million fundraising round that valued the company at approximately $1.2 billion.
The investment in CollegeDekho comes a month after vehicle marketplace CarTrade Tech announced that it had halted talks with Girnar Software to acquire CarDekho and BikeDekho.
