IndiGo faces a GST penalty of over ₹13 lakh, which the business plans to defend

The Assistant Commissioner of State Tax, Excise and Taxation Department, Punjab, levied a penalty of ₹13,28,255 for the fiscal year 2021-22.

“The department has doubled the GST demand and penalty. The company argues that the order issued by the government is incorrect. Furthermore, the corporation feels it has a good case on merit, supported by expert tax advisors.

As a result, the business will challenge the matter before the competent authorities,” InterGlobe Aviation, IndiGo’s parent company, stated in a regulatory filing on Thursday (December 25, 2025).

It added that there was no major impact on the company’s finances, operations, or other activities.
