Age Calculator

The Age Calculator can calculate the age or interval between two dates. The computed age will be shown in years, months, weeks, days, hours, minutes, and seconds.

In different cultures, people’s ages are reckoned differently. This calculator is based on the most popular age system. In this system, an individual’s age increases on their birthday. For example, a person who has lived for three years and eleven months is three years old, and their age will increase to four on their next birthday, which is one month later. Most Western countries utilize this age system.

In some cultures, age is expressed by counting years, either including or excluding the current year. For example, a twenty-year-old person is the same age as someone in their twenty-first year of existence. In one of the ancient Chinese age systems, people are born at the age of one and their age grows at the ancient Chinese New Year rather than their birthday. For example, if a kid is born just one day before the Traditional Chinese New Year, he or she will be two years old two days later, although being only two days old at the time.

In rare cases, the months and day results of this age calculator can be perplexing, especially if the starting date is near the end of a month.  For example, we consider February 20 to March 20 to be one month.  However, there are two ways to determine the age between February 28, 2022 and March 31, 2022. If we take February 28 to March 28 to be one month, the total is one month and three days. If we count both February 28 and March 31 as the end of the month, the result is one month. Both calculations are reasonable.  There are similar circumstances for dates such as April 30 to May 31, May 30 to June 30, and so on.  The misconception stems from the uneven number of days in different months. In our calculations, we employ the former method.
